The Mindset of an Explosive Ordnance Device Specialist

Picture
Imagine kneeling before a bomb. Your job, deactivate. How do you calm your nerves? Nick Kush was a Seal Team Explosive Ordnance Device Technician serving 20 years in Special Ops. With combat tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, Nick was the EOD for Task Unit Bruiser under the command of JOCKO Willink in Ramadi. The EODs are the guys called to deactivate an IED improvised explosive device or bomb. After retiring, Nick trained Special Ops personnel in advanced parachuting. He has well over 10,000 jumps and was the project lead for The Triple 7 Expedition, a 168-hour skydiving journey led by a team of former special operators and skydiving veterans who completed seven jumps in seven days on seven continents.

Why Teams with Better Habits get Better Results

Picture
Charlie Gilkey is a 'teams' guy. After 20 years of fieldwork incorporating systems thinking, strategy, execution, leadership and organizational development, his experience includes leading 200+ soldiers in the U.S. Army and 14 years consulting leaders in various industries. As challenging as leading and working in teams can be, few things are as rewarding as seeing your team come together and do a great job. He believes every team, everywhere, has the potential to be that kind of team, and that is precisely what his new book 'Team Habits' and this session are about. When we make working in teams better, we make work better, which means we make people’s lives better.
